Pliers and Cutters.

Types of Pliers and Cutters

They have a scissor type action and razor sharp ground cutting edges. They are not as good as the combicutters for stripping back the internal insulation since it is possible to over cut and ‘nick’ the wire. Nevertheless they are a popular traditional tool.

For larger diameter cable, more leverage and bigger blades are needed. This is where the C.K heavy duty cable cutters come in.

The contoured shape of the blades holds the cable in place, which combined with the high leverage, makes it possible to cut aluminium and copper core cables up to 25mm diameter.

Cable cutters

This type of cutter is specifically designed for cutting and stripping back the insulation on aluminium, copper and plastic sheathed cables up to 13mm diameter.

And for the biggest cables we need something altogether more powerful!

The C.K ratchet cable cutter is a compact heavy duty cutter for effortlessly cutting through cable up to 32mm diameter.

As the handles are opened and closed, the ratchet mechanism pulls the curved blade through the cable.

The curved blade is made from special chrome molybdenum steel. It's heat treated to the optimum hardness to cut through hard drawn copper cable, Aluminium cored cable and 200 pair communications cable (like a very big telephone wire).

It is not designed to cut through steel reinforced cable; doing so will damage the cutting blades.
